The solution would be to play with a static party, but most people I know are on at odd hours and Free companies are kinda the same as well. There are plenty of nice people here, maybe it's just my luck, but I really don't feel like I can play this game as a new player Tank, and it's unfortunate because I really liked the class. Granted - it's not like this 100% of the time, but with my experience thus far it's been about 50% of the time with Duty Finder randoms. That, of which I do not like, as I do not like having to have long queues for dungeons/trials for Main Story Quests, to progress through a story that in my opinion is fantastic - only to be kicked, blamed, and just not helped at all by this community. I really want to play this game as a tank, but for the foreseeable future it feels as if the community here simply does not want to deal with any new players playing support, and this game is just "Play DPS until you know every dungeon layout/mechanic, then you can play support" ![]() A single screw up or a wipe and it's immediately "Who do we kick?" instead of "Who do we need to educate?" It's almost as if there is no room for any error at all as a Support class with these people. I knew the mechanics, was about to tell the DPS that we had to jump and that I may have messed up and apologize, mid typing and yet there I was - staring at a black screen being dismissed from the party. Our DPS took aggro on the platform jumps and died, then wrote "This wouldn't be a problem if our tank knew his f***'ing rotation." The most recent being in Sohr Khai, which is what drove me to quit this game and just let my sub run out at this point. However, I've been blamed for almost any and every wipe I've ever had in this game. There are plenty of times where when things are getting hectic on screen, or the healer is edging me, that I'll mess up on rotation, popping cooldowns, etc. ![]() I also always mention at the beginning of every dungeon that I'm new and it's my first time tanking, which has also ♥♥♥♥♥♥ me booted from parties as well (without even doing anything,) which I'm guessing is because they wanted a tank to speed run it. ![]() I try my best to retain as much of the information as possible, going to the extents of looking at dungeon map layouts, watching multiple video guides, etc. In this game however, playing Tank as a new player means you will be kicked from parties, told to quit the game, told to change your role and level up a DPS, and so on and so on.Īs a tank I study up on dungeons and trials before I go into them with the Duty finder or even with friends/free company. I main'd the Warrior Tank class in FFXIV here (apparently a pretty straightforward Tank class too.) I usually will play Tank in most MMO's as I like having something to do and being more of an important support role. To start off - I own the game via SE store
